ZARA – Civil Courage and Anti-Racism Work draws attention to racist attacks and structures in Austria in its annual Racism Report. The anonymized reports presented in the report provide an insight into the racist incidents that were reported to ZARA over the course of a year and the measures that were initiated together with clients. In 2023, ZARA documented 1,302 reports of racism, with an alarming proportion of online racism. The case reports range from racist police violence to discrimination in the education system, underlining the need for structural changes and emphasizing that racism is not just an individual problem, but a societal one.
