In Austria public events were held as a two-day event consisting of workshops and reading.
Workshops: Your Space, Your Voice!
The workshops took placec on Sunday, December 15th, 2024 at the AFRIEUROTEXT Bookstore in Vienna by Dokustelle Austria and ZARA. In the morning session (10:00-13:00), Disrupt Verein led a workshop focused on building self-confidence and positive self-perception through creative methods and discussion. In the afternoon session (14:00-17:00), the journalistic collective Vorlaut Kollektiv showed participants how to use their voices to create their own media contributions, from ideation to video production.
Reading: “When We Were Swans” with Behzad Karim-Khani
Behzad Karim-Khani read from his new work, “When We Were Swans” on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at the Freunde Salon in Vienna. The event started at 19:00. The book tells the story of a boy growing up amidst escape, anger, and a longing for belonging. It is a powerful portrait of the 1990s, a world full of contrasts shaped by migration, German neighborhoods, and the invisible scars that are etched into the soul.
