How can we imagine an inclusive future for the new generations? What does it really mean to take action for a change that impacts society? These questions found their answer on December 13, 2024, at the new Save the Children facilities in Rome, where the Manifesto of the New Italian Generations 2025 was presented. This document, promoted by the CoNNGI (National Coordination of New Italian Generations), aims to address the challenges and opportunities facing the new generations in Italy, with a focus on social inclusion.
During the event, the Manifesto found a powerful concrete expression in the Butterfly Effect Project, an initiative that embraces the values of inclusion and active citizenship. Targeted at young people between the ages of 11 and 19, the project demonstrates how intercultural education and anti-racism can translate into tangible actions for change.
CoNNGI shared the results achieved, highlighting the activities carried out in collaboration with European partners such as ZARA – Zivilcourage und Anti-Rassismus-Arbeit (Austria), Human Rights House Zagreb – HRHZ (Croatia), Symbiosis (Greece), Dokustelle Österreich (Austria), and COSPE (Italy). The project created safe and stimulating spaces, where young people had the opportunity to reflect on crucial topics such as identity, mutual respect, and the value of cultural diversity.
Rwendeye Stephane, project manager of the Butterfly Effect Project, illustrated the activities carried out, including training courses for the project team and the associations involved, as well as workshops held in Genoa and Bologna. He emphasized the fruitful collaboration with schools, the commitment of teachers, and the strong emotional participation from students.
The Butterfly Effect Project is not just a simple training program for young people: it is a true laboratory of ideas and concrete actions that intertwine with the social and cultural policies outlined by the Manifesto of the New Italian Generations. This connection between political vision and on-the-ground intervention was appreciated by representatives from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, who attended the event.
The CoNNGI team, composed of Noura Ghazoui and Ali Tanveer for administrative areas, Jessica Retto and Amer Altaie for communication, and Stephane Rwendeye and Iliass Boussetta as project managers, shared their experiences, highlighting the valuable learning opportunity this project has represented. They emphasized how this journey allowed them to better understand the dynamics and approaches necessary to effectively address the challenges in the various contexts and countries involved.
The Manifesto and the Butterfly Effect Project, with their complementary approaches, represent two sides of the same coin: a network of relationships and awareness working together to build a more inclusive and cohesive society. The Butterfly Effect has shown us that change only takes shape through action. Join us today to turn ideas into concrete reality.
